I did it. It wasn’t my plan to, but I went into the Apple store to get my iPhone 3G looked at, and while there I bought a new iPhone 3GS. I’m totally in love with it. It is really so much faster than my iPhone 3G. Bejeweled, one of my favorite games on my iPhone, which used to take a good 20-25 seconds to open takes less than 5second to launch now. Typing on the keyboard is so much better and quicker and switching back to the home screen is a joy. I am totally glad I did it.

Yesterday, like most of the iPhone users out there, I waited with baited breath for the iPhone OS 3.0 to be available. I installed it on my iPhone 3G with no problems at all. Overall, it’s a great upgrade. Cut, copy and Paste is a wonderful addition to the iPhone OS and it really is so much better than I expected it to be. Being able to copy and paste from Safari with formatting is sweet. I also really love the landscape keyboard. It makes writing and replying to email really convenient. It will certainly keep me happy until I decide to buy a new iPhone 3GS. I really am quite beside myself, here I am sitting on the train back from NYC using my new Verizion MiFi EVDO modem and talking via IM to Rinki who’s on a plane some where over the middle of the country on WiFi. Amazing. I just had one of the best weekends of my life. My friend Rinki from Japan came to visit this weekend. We had a blast. He met my friend Pinoyboy in NYC on Friday and then came to visit my place on Saturday. We had a blast driving and shopping and talking. We ate cheesesteaks (his first time ever) and even played Guitar Hero. He completely embarrassed me with his skills playing a game that he had never even played! Sunday we headed back to NYC to rendezvous with Pinoyboy. We went to Rockefeller Center, the Apple Store 5th Avenue and had an amazing adventure searching the city for a Blue Microphones Eyeball. We finally found it at J&R Music World, but we had a blast running all over the city looking for it. I got to take them both to my favorite restaurant in NYC, Virgils and Rinki had BBQ for the first time. We capped the night off with dessert at Max Brenner’s. I want to thank them both for such a wonderful time! ![]() I love my iPhone. I use it constantly. In fact I use it so much that I kill my battery pretty often. I usually have a dock cable handy at work and my car has a built in iPod adapter which keeps me topped off. However when I’m out and about, I don’t often have these options so I look toward an external battery to give me a boost when I need it. This weekend I had a trip planned to NYC and I usually rock my Richard Solo battery backup. It’s a great product with one draw back. It hangs off the bottom of the iPhone and it’s not very usable when you are walking around with your iPhone. So I decided to take a chance on a new product, the Mophie Juice Pack Air. The Juice Pack Air is nice because it completely encloses the iPhone like a case, top and bottom. It does add a little weight and size to the iPhone but it’s so damned convenient that you don’t mind at all. It worked flawlessly, wait until you’re about 25% from a dead battery, flip the switch and the Mophie starts to recharge your phone. It works great! I very much recommend it!!! Just an update… I lost 2.9 lbs (1.3 kg) this week. It’s not quite the 4.4lbs (2kg) I gained but I’m moving in the right direction. I need to lose 2 lbs (1 kg) this week to make my goal. Wish me luck! Yesterday I called Sprint to cancel my EVDO modem. When I called, I found out that my one year contract with them was in fact a two year contract and that I was going to have to pay a cancellation fee. When I kept telling the customer service rep that I swore I signed a one year contract, she transferred me to her supervisor who politely explained how they know I had a two year contracted based off the price I paid for the modem and then offered to cut me a break and halve my termination fee from $150 to $75. I was shocked. I’m kinda sad I left Sprint now. |
