I blogged a few weeks ago about playing Project Gotham Racing with a Wheel controller and how much I needed to practice, well this weekend another game that I’ve been waiting patiently for came out this weekend… Mario Kart Wii. ![]() I have always been a bit of a fan of the Mario Kart franchise. I had lost a little interest with Mario Kart Double Dash but I was sucked back in fully with the Mario Kart DS which introduced drifting and online worldwide play. After two years, I still play that game regularly on my DS, so when I heard the Wii version was coming, I was very excited. I picked it up on Sunday afternoon and had no problem getting a copy even though I hadn’t pre-ordered it. I brought it home, unpacked the game and the Wii wheel and went for a drive. I’ve very happy with game play. The boards are nice and very smooth and the mix of old and new is fantastic. The Wheel is very cool, but I’m too much a spaz to have good control of the wheel. I prefer driving with a control stick and Mario Kart Wii has a number of controller choices, Wii Remote and Nunchuk, Classic Controller or the Game Cube controller. I am loving the Wii Remote/Nunchuk combo. It feels very comfortable to me and it works out in the end because the hubby loves the wheel. I wonder what will end up on the “pile of shame” while i am spending hours doing laps in Mario Kart Wii?

Over the weekend I bid on and won another Mac for my collection. This time I got a iBook G3 SE Graphite 466MHz! It’s in good shape, tho it needs an AirPort card! I loaded up Tiger on it and it seems to run pretty quickly! I know it doesn’t mean much to anyone but me but it joins my PowerBook G3 and Classic Mac II in my small collection of old Macs. ![]() This past weekend I decided to buy something that I’ve always wanted, and that will be a nice addition to one of my collections. It should be here tomorrow. I can’t wait. I posted a week or two ago that I upgraded my blog to Wordpress 2.5 and I have to say I really like the change they’ve made to the Admin console. Everything is slicker and more well put together. I have so far found two big issues for me… one is a few plugins that don’t work, the other is a problem with uploading photos. The plugin issue seems to be less of one as the author just put out a beta of a new version and it seems to work! The issue with uploading the photos I found a solution for online. It seems that when you upload a photo you’ll get an HTTP Error. To fix it you have to edit your .htaccess file and add some code. I followed this set of instructions which were really great! Other than that… I’m very happy with the upgrade. How about you? Have you upgraded? Have you found any issues? This past Christmas my folks gave the husband a Microsoft XBOX 360. I must admit this was a present for him and not much for me. I really didn’t think that there would be much of anything of interest to me with the XBOX, after all I’m a Nintendo Fan Boy through and through. Well… I was wrong. A few days after we got the XBOX 360 Shawn brought me a little gift… Project Gotham Racing 4. It was indeed a great gift especially knowing what a car nut I am. A game that allows me to drive for hours around in a Ferrari or a RUF Porsche is just the right thing for me. And to be honest, I’ve wasted a good part of the last 4 months just driving and driving. I absolutely adore the game. Back in January while at the local GameStop, I saw they had a wireless steering wheel and it had PEDALS no joke. I wanted this bad but at 100 USD it seems a bit steep for just one game so I just put it out of my mind. Until the other day when a huge box showed up… a gift from my hubby. ![]() I am so excited. The hubby got it for a steal 30 USD! I have to say I like it. It adds a totally different element to the game. I really like the pedals but the steering wheel is so much harder than the XBOX controller. It took me a while to sort out what was so different but I finally sorted it. When you play with the controller when you let go of the control stick it goes back to the center and the car goes straight… with the wheel you have to turn it back to center. I’m forever running in to the wall! Guess I’ll just have to practice more! Last week, Pinoyboy sent me a link that has made my life living between a Windows PC at work and a Mac at home a bit more bearable. Google last week released a FREE application to sync your Microsoft Outlook calendar to your Google calendar. I like to have my work calendar (Microsoft Outlook) on my iPhone since it’s basically my PDA. However, since I sync my iPhone with my Mac and not my Windows PC, that means I need my work calendar to appear in my iCal. I had a solution which worked okay but it was a manual process that meant that I had to constantly remember to click a button to kick of a macro, and suffice it to say… I’ve forgotten more than a few times to do that! The Google Sync application automatically pushes the calendar at a preset interval. You can do a 1-Way Sync from Outlook to Google or a 1-Way sync from Google to Outlook or a 2-Way sync between both calendars! I’ve done a one way sync to my Google calendar that is not shared and then used the iCal private address from Google Calendar to add this to my iCal and viola… I have my work calendar on my iPhone when I sync and if I don’t get a chance to sync, its right there, for my eyes only on Google Calendar! Check it out for yourself… Google Sync Today maybe April Fools Day, but it’s also Apple’s birthday. Thirty-two years ago today, Apple was incorporated. Throughout years of ups and downs, the company has survived and right now they are doing pretty well and I for one am glad for it. Happy Birthday Apple I’ve just updated to Wordpress 2.5. I really like the new admin interface. I know I’ve been MIA with blogging… I’ll be posting this week! |
