I’m sure you’ve all heard by now that Apple released the iPhone 1.1.1 update and that it has caused a bit of trouble for us iPhone users. I’m not sure if I want to upgrade or not. I’m not really all that worried about the locking/unlocking issue as I’ve not unlocked my phone but I am kinda of upset about the third party apps being broken. I really haven’t added too much in the way of third party apps but there are a few that I can’t see using my iPhone without…
Ringtones
I love my ringtones. It was a feature that was lacking on my Sidekicks and I was happy when I could put them back on my phone. I enjoy having custom ones and with a library the size of my iTunes library, there are plenty of songs and I don’t mind doing the work to cut them down to size. I want my ring tones.
Reorganization
There are apps I don’t use on the iPhone, and I want to be able to move the ones I do to a spot that makes more sense to me on my home screen. For example, I moved the iPod icon to the top row, right hand side, put my Safari and SMS icon into the bottom row etc.
Taskbar Notifier
One of the greatest add ons I installed, it puts an icon in the menu bar next to the battery icon when you have an SMS or when u have an email. This feature makes my phone so much more usable!
But that’s not to say there aren’t some features I want in the update either. I really want:
- Louder speakerphone and receiver volume
- Home Button double-click shortcut to phone favorites or music controls
- Space bar double-tap shortcut to intelligently insert period and space
- Mail attachments are viewable in portrait and landscape
- Stocks and cites in Stocks and Weather can be re-ordered
- Support for TV Out
- Adjustable alert volume
The truth of the matter is I’m not sure just what I’m going to do… upgrade or not?
