I know I’ve used my blog before many times to bitch about bad customer service experiences… well this time I want to talk about a good one. Today while talking to a friend, we were discussing an Audible book that he had heard recommended that he wanted to pick up. He noted how much it cost and I mentioned that I wish I could use one of my monthly credits to give him the book because I have absolutely no clue what to buy this month. He mentioned you could, and after some research I noticed that you can only do that with a Platinum Membership, and I only have a Legacy “Premium Listener” account which gets me 2 free audio books a month for 21.95. While reading about the Platinum account, I realized that for one more dollar a month, I’d be getting so much more. I still get my 2 books a month but I also get “rollover” credits which means if I forgot to buy my books for the month (don’t laugh…i’ve done it often) that those credits would roll over to the next month (currently, I lose them). On top of that, I can use my credits to gift books to others, something I’ve often wanted to do, and I get a steeper discount off books I buy over my two free books a month. I did forget to buy my books last month, which meant I lost 2 credits, and I was just charged for my monthly fee yesterday, so I called up Audible. Within 3 minutes, he had credited my account for the charge yesterday, billed me the 22.95 USD for the Platinum account and without my asking, he restored every credit I’ve lost over the past year! I got back 5 credits and my two more for the month, my friend will get his book, and I don’t have to stress about what to buy this month! If you haven’t checked out Audible, I really recommend you do.

I’m on vacation this week. Nothing too exciting, just a little trip down to the beach with my family, though a week with my family… should be exciting. So far there have been a few disagreements about the sleeping arrangements, but that’s to be expected! There are bigger fish to fry and as usual my mother has one foot in the fry pan but denies it to the end. Hopefully this week will bring some needed rest and relaxation. Only time will tell Yet another reason I loves my iPhone, I’m standing outside waiting for I have a few down moments today as I am on vacation next week, and as Ah, another week gone by with no posts… and this post has been in draft since Sunday. I must remember to blog! This weekend, I decided to tackle a project for my mother. I decided to secretly nick the photo albums that my parents have and digitize (scan) the photos so my mom can have them in her iPhoto rather than in an album that she’ll never see. While scanning the almost 500 photos that I could get my hands on, I realized just how much digital photography has changed the way we take photos. Back in the day, the number of shots per roll of film was significantly less than what you can fit on a memory card/stick today and you could not easily tell if the picture you shot was crap or not. I was amazed at how many blurry pictures were there in the photo album next to the great shots. I realized you had no way to know it was blurry until after you paid for processing… so you kept them! Also I noticed that pictures weren’t take just every day. It did truly seem as if it was always a birthday, Christmas, Communion or Confirmation going on. There were very few oh look how cute…SNAP pictures, something I have hundreds of. I was also amazed by the relatively low quantity of pictures, there are apparently two albums I missed but still if we go with even 750 pictures of our whole childhoods, I have 750 digital snaps of my nephew already. Heck I have that many pictures of my cat! It is amazing to me what digital photography has done to make picture taking so much better and rewarding but I will admit, there is something to be said for holding a Polaroid with your mother’s handwriting on the front… ![]() WTF? I’m not sure what is worse that there haven’t even chosen the presidential canidates, that they’ve compared the next presidential election to American Idol, or that this serioud should be fodder for novelty items? Sigh Yet another weekend at my folks, a trip to IKEA to buy 6 pieces of furniture which surprisingly fit into my car, the assembly of said pieces (9:30pm Saturday until 5:30am Sunday), the moving of pieces, still yet more unpacking of my folks stuff and dealing with my mom. I’m not complaining, to be honest some of it was fun but, I think this picture of my nephew says it best… ![]() I’m just beat! Work is gonna be busy this week too and I still have stuff to blog, I’ll do my best! |
