How much more could it have sucked?

I’m guessing not much more than it did. I tried to have a positive day. I even took steps to get away from the suckiness and put it back on track but… at every turn, frustration, confusion and suckiness.

Of course I will not bitch about work on my blog. Too open a forum. Suffice it to say I spent the day chasing a problem, trying to resolve it, uncovering another problem that if it was fixed, could have helped with the first problem. Another problem brought to my attention , which I thought was being caused by an existing problem turned out to be totally unrelated, and fixable. Good right? Well not when you figure out that I didn’t come to that realization until 9:45pm. Thank goodness for Pinoyboy asking “is it writing to a file?”. If he hadn’t who knows how long it would have taken me to realize the log file was/is corrupted.

I was on a high at that point, but again, a happy eve was not to be. I’m not even going into what happened, but confusion and frustration found me again.

F*ck it. I’m going to bed.

Wow look at all the comments!

Peter I think your head is making too much noise – things may seem complicated but infact they may not be so. Remember how hypnosis work – what they say on TV anyway?

Filter out the noise, re-evaluate the symptoms of the problems, identify the options at each step and you’ll find the answer. With numbers it is always about patterns and reconciling those patterns against actions. Chaos theory… all will be revealed in patterns and problems will culminate into another huge pattern that will repeat itself. Once the error is rectified, as they say, “the timeline will be restored!”. Comparative diagnostics!!

Take a step back and if you wake up at night then write it down so that you can go back to bed. If you an insomniac then the work that is in your head is not going to help. Maybe a new job? And yes bitchin will not help either.

Hang in there….

So this will be the third time Peter…I hope it works.

1. Comparative Diagnostic
2. Chaos Theory

Work back and retrace. Start from a backup that is bug free and compare that with the current one which is not working. Compare that again to another that has never had a problem ever. The slight discrepancies will then still out like a sore thumb.

Trace back and you’ll realise that there is a pattern in all this issues your facing. List the steps and work yourself back to the point of origin. A pattern in a pattern in a pattern.

Once you’ve mastered this technique, any pattern will be easily recognisable and the discrepancies will pop up infront of you naturally.

Thats what we do with numbers anyway….

Go on... say something. You know you want to.
