All good things must come to an end, and today was no exception. I had to see my friend Pinoyboy off this morning and it was sad. We had such a good time while he was here and I really got used to him being around. I’m so glad that we get along so well that sometimes, I wonder what I did before I met him! Parting was definitely difficult and of course, not without some drama. As we arrived home yesterday, a snow storm that I was unaware was forecast sprung up dropping snow and ice on us, and it looked like Pinoyboy’s travel plans were going to get dicey. We spent the evening checking out some Anime and trying to avoid the fact that our time together was coming to an end. I was still exhausted and seriously worried about getting him to the airport so I hit the sack before midnight. We woke up extra early this morning and headed out with plenty of time to spare, only to find that of course, not nearly as much snow as was forecast, and the roads were pretty clear. He was nice enough to grab the shuttle from my workplace to the airport, as I had to work today. Of course we got work way to early. I must admit, I wasn’t too sad as it gave us a little more time to chat it up before he had to go. I really want to thank him for being so understanding thru my illness this weekend. Pinoyboy, you really are one of a kind, and I sure am glad we are friends. Thanks… Well this past weekend was our trip to the Comic Con in NY. If you are a long time blogger, you may remember what happened last year on my trip to the ComicCon. This year however, we were trying very hard to change that. This year we were a threesome, on our way to the city, Pinoyboy, Roseld and myself. And even though I was sick, I was determined to go. It turned out well, I was still feeling crap, but I was determined to make it. We made a great time to the city, I think we were all surprised how fast we got there. We actually got in to town so fast that we were way ahead of schedule to meet up with Evilbuddha. We finally met up with him and headed to Le Bonne Soupe for lunch. Great little place, good food and even better company. We made it to the ComicCon around 1pm, and we had a great time. I was a little surprised at how much Anime was at the ‘Con. It seemed to over shadow the comic portion quite a bit. There was lots to see and do, especially to see. I really enjoyed seeing all the fans dressed up. We saw quite a few very dedicated fans. i didn’t take many pics of them, but Gaygamer.net posted a few. Roseld did some shopping, and I stuck to my guns and didn’t buy a thing. After the ‘Con we met up with Roseld’s friend who we had dinner with the year before. We went back to Marianne’s, a nice Mexican place and had some good food. We wandered over to the Pleasure Chest, yes an adult toy store! Where we all had a good time looking, laughing and wondering at all the toys they offered! We even had a very helpful salesman who was really knowledgeable and helpful, something I’ve not experienced before at an adult novelty store. It was a great time. Next, we headed up to East of 8th where we had dessert and then back to the hotel for some much needed shut eye. Sunday morning was an early one but we headed back to Maison, where Pinoyboy had originally introduced me to Lindemann’s Framboise. We had a very nice French brekkie and a lovely chat about all kinds of stuff. It was nice. The ride home was nice as well. I owe Pinoyboy a great big thanks for being such a good listener and a fantastic friend as he listened to me ramble the entire way home from Roseld’s. All in all I think it was a great success and a wonderful time, and I was even feeling better by the time we got home… that is until it started snowing… This weekend, one of my best buds, Pinoyboy came to visit. I could not be happier about this visit especially since it came at the end of possibly the busiest time I’ve ever had at work. I finished up my presentation on Wednesday and on Thursday afternoon he was set to arrive. I went to bed early on Wednesday as I was, I thought understandably tired, but when I woke on Thursday morning, I had a very congested head and a nasty case of Post-Nasal drip. I figured it’d be no big deal…boy was I wrong. By the time I picked him up from the airport, it had moved into my chest. I felt like crap. No doubt about it. I was sick. As our plans included an over night trip to New York, being sick was not good. We spent the first two days of his trip just taking it easy. I was a sleepy host and doped up on way too much medication to stay awake. We watched a few DVDs and played some GameCube and DS together. I’m really very, very grateful for his patience and his kind words, especially since he was probably bored out of his mind! It really sucks to be sick on vacation. Wow so many things happened between now and when I blogged last. I REALLY want to get back to where I was blogging daily… It just gets away from me…:( I mean it’s been 10 days! 10 freaking days since I blogged last. Oh you know what F*CK it… I’m gonna just back blog… I apologize for the deluge… I know I’m late posting this (it happened on Thursday) but I had the mother of all oops. As some of you may or may not know… I’ve been growing a beard. Yes I’ve had facial hair for a long time and I’ve had a Van Dyck (a moustache with a goatee) of late, but over the past month, I’ve decided to grow a full on beard. I thought it looked pretty good: And it was my plan to continue sporting the beard… that was until Thursday morning, when a series of shaving mishaps resulted in this unfortunate look: It started innocently enough… trimming up the lower part of my beard, under my neck. A small slip of the razor, and the right side was too high, no amount of trying to even it out would help. I realized I’d have to give up the beard… so I began to remove the beard and go back to my Van Dyck. I got out my clippers and trimmed down my cheeks, I outlined my goatee and cleaned up the edges of my moustache. While I was doing maintenance I decided the goatee could use a bit of trimming down, it was after all kinda long. I grabbed the attachment for the clipper and set it to 3, my normal length for my goatee and moustache. I took the first pass and realized… it was set to a ONE not a THREE! I shaved off the whole corner of my goatee. Can you say…NOT HAPPY JAN! So now faced with the death of my beard, the demise of my goatee, and the fact that I look like 70’s porn star with a moustache alone… I went clean shaven. I’m not happy at all with how I look. I really want my goatee back and now… I won’t be shaving for a few weeks I can tell you that. “It’s snowing, it’s snowing! God, I hate this weather!” — TMBG - New York City. Yup. Our first good snow fall in my area. I know it’s nothing compared to the snow that’s been happening in upstate New York, or the Mid-West, but we got a good one. It started off yesterday morning, early, more early than expected. It snowed about 3 inches yesterday by dinner time when it changed to ice. Pellets of ice just beat against our windows for hours and hours and hours. Sometime over night, it turned back into snow and we got quite a few more inches of snow. It snowed for hours today and now there is a HOWLING wind. It’s freezing outside and I’m not looking to go out in it. I just know it’s going to be terrible in the morning. Ah… a reprieve. Well for a little bit at least. As mentioned in my previous post, the impending forecast has cause my presentation to be moved to next Monday. That’s not too bad because it gives me a few extra days to review the materials and be really prepared! Now let’s hope it actually snows. Well I think it’s finally done. My project that is. It’s a living breathing project, the documentation will constantly need updating, but I wrote the final edit this evening. Now comes the stressful part, the presentation. It’s scheduled for Tuesday and there is also a snow storm forcasted for Tuesday and Wednesday. I think it might get canceled and I’m really freaking out. I’m trying not to let that get me down. I’m really happy that I finished the documentation! I want to apologize to everyone for being so distant and unavailable for the past few months. I also want to thank my sweetie and my best bud for putting up with me over the last two weeks especially! I know I’ve been remiss in my blogging. This project is about to come to an end. Months of work coming to fruition next week. Of course the news is saying we might have a MAJOR snow storm the first day of the presentation… sigh. I’ve had much to say, and several times I even started a post but my mind is all over the place… let me sum up… 1. I won an award at work last week. Well I’m sure there is more. I gotta get my head back into blogging more frequently. I’m working on it! |
