Yum.

Friday night home from my business trip.

A lovely evening spent at home with the boyfriend.

We missed each other, we cuddled, we stayed up until 3am watching the entire first season of “Noah’s Arc” on DVD. Wrapped in each other’s arms, laughing, chatting, stealing kisses.

Oh yeah and we finally agree on a man. GAWD DAMN….Trey.

We’ll take one of him… to go.

Phased out.

Yes, I think that’s an appropriate term. I’ve been phased out of a friendship.

It started slowly, this and that happened, and then a bit more, and then communications which had dropped off, became all business and not a bit personal, and finally, you realize, you’re gone. Just gone. And you didn’t even have the means to change it.

Phased out. It’s not fun.

All in all, not bad.

Yesterday turned out to be not too bad. As I said yesterday, although Monday was a b*tch, yesterday was getting better, and it kept on…

Although my flight was delayed an hour, I was the only person in my row on the plane and I got about one hour worth of code written. When I landed, I headed to Avis but they had screwed up and not had my car waiting so they upgraded me for free to a Mustang Convertible. Nice. I got to the hotel, and sadness they only have in room DSL (with CRAP speed) but I found a 25 foot Cat-5 cable at Wal-mart for only 10 dollars. Then on the way to the Wal-mart, I made a wrong turn and stumbled upon a Volvo Dealership. I know, I know it’s bad enough I hit up Apple dealers where ever I travel to but I’ve been hitting up Volvo dealers in hope of seeing or maybe even DRIVING a new Volvo C70 and last nite, I found one. They didn’t offer to let me drive it, but they did fire it up, put the top down (what an amazing process!) and let me sit in it. I want one so badly.

I finally found the Wal-Mart and got some supplies I forgot to pack, had a nice dinner, quiet and delicious and headed back top down to the hotel. Once back at the hotel good news continued, apparently my Mac Pro has shipped. It is scheduled for delivery on Monday the 25th but still she’s on her way. I did get to score a iChat with my boyfriend before the network speed went to pot, which also caused problems with the podcast, but hey… with so much good stuff, who can complain.

Oh and did I mention, it’s 77 sunny and breezy here in New Hampshire, it will definitely be top down back to the hotel :)

Hoping for a better day

Well here I sit in at the PHL Airport waiting on my flight to New Hampshire and silently hoping to my self for a better work day than yesterday’s. So far the signs are pointing to a better day, no traffic on the way here, no hold ups at security and when I checked in last night, I was the only person in my row.

However yesterday was not good. It started off okay, but went to hell in a handbasket when right in the middle of searching for tickets to my next class, my Dell laptop started to get really slow. I wonedered what was wrong and tried to bring up Task Manager, and when I did, I got a blue screen and a stop error. The PC rebooted and reported in sad white DOS text… Disc read error… press Ctrl + Alt + Del to continue. Continue? That’s kinda an error that you can’t continue past.

I was in a panic, not only did I do a bunch of work on Friday that hadn’t gotten backed up yet, but I had to go to a customer site the next morning. A call to support led to a call to Dell, which lead to a yes it is dead, yes it will be there tomorrow. However that doesn’t help me as *I* won’t be here tomorrow. Do they have a spare drive they can do for me now? No. A loaner? No. Any solution? Nope, we don’t care that you need your equipment to make money for the company tomorrow…deal.

So I have lost my files and I have no way to present my materials. Well thank goodness I have a MacBook. I loaded XP on Boot Camp, and copied my files from my backup drive and I’m sorta ready to go… but that took up most of my evening to set it up.

Well while writing this post, a co-worker called to tell me Dell sent the HD to my desk, not IT. Grrr…

Want Vista?

Gizmodo reports on how to download Windows Vista RC1 and a free key via Windows Live.

I know we’re a Mac shop but I’m always interested in new OSes!

You might want to note that RC1 will load on Bootcamp (I’ll be trying tonight), but it does not work on Parallels latest Release Canidate.

Zune… meh

Microsoft announced details today for it’s new ZUNE player (read iPod killer), and it’s underwhelming and in my opinion, a big mistake for Microsoft.

The Zune will be a 30GB brick of a device which looks a lot like a Toshiba Gigabeat X, which it might just be since Toshiba is making them for Microsoft. The feature set which like Vista’s has been watered down over the past few months consists of stuff that won’t really get you excited… 30GB, Photos, Videos, and Music (all features the iPod’s had for years. The only new feature they have added is Zune to Zune wireless which will let you send certain types of files to another Zune. Umm okay?

What really got me going was this quote from Engadget’s Interview with J Allard from Microsoft where he said “…People just a want a system that’s end-to-end — all compatible out of the gate — and that’s what Zune does. Zune says there is no choice; you get a Zune device, you hook it up to the Zune service, and it just works.”

Umm wasn’t that the very thing they claimed “Plays for Sure” was to combat? Apple’s evil “end to end” solution known as the iPod?

Hmm more Microsoft flip flopping. Who’s surprised?
