This is exactly why I have zero doubt that the Pixar/Disney merger was a good idea. From the Independent Online… “…On Wednesday, less than 24 hours after Mr Jobs and Disney’s new chief executive, Bob Iger, unveiled the merger, Mr Lasseter went to Burbank with Pixar’s president, Ed Catmull. He announced that Toy Story 3 would now be scrapped, without a word about the fate of the animation team…” This could not be better news as most true Pixar fan were cringing that Disney was going to make this movie. There is something about Pixar’s stories that Disney just doesn’t have down yet. It’s also no suprise as Toy Story was Lassiter’s project. John Lassiter is a god at Pixar, and a genius to boot. He can do NOTHING but improve on Disney’s animation deptartment. This little tidbit also made me smile: “…According to regulatory filings in the US, the Disney-Pixar deal gives Mr Lasseter creative control over all of the two studios’ animated film output, while still maintaining Pixar’s independence…” Ah…sweet. Well it would appear the move worked perfectly and nothing is f’d up! Yay. Hours of work on a Sunday were not in vain. Now we can start making some changes! Hey y’all, I’m really sorry that the site has been languishing. I haven’t gotten the sidebars fixed yet or much blogging done because… I’m having server issues. So we’re moving. To another hosting company. I’ve uploaded the files and loaded the database…now we just have to wait for the DNSes to update. See you there! This week has been a week of set backs, laziness and bugs to be fixed. And I’m a bit sick of it. Start with the issues with the blog. The fact that the blog may have to find a new hosting home (working on it now Thank You!), the fact that for a while the blog was a grand production of bad links sending you to the wrong page back to another page back to another page and I couldn’t even get in to fix it. Ed. Again dude you are GOD to me. Podcasts sucked. Did 13 takes of episode 52. Might as well admit it. They all sucked. The podcast with Mike P was good, the file was not. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but it seemed he was whispering, I was shouting. When the levels said we were even. Sorry Mike. Last nite was a brutal night. Family drama. People cried. I got mad. I must thank three specific people for getting me thru last nite. Shawn. He is the rock that shelters me from the storm. I just feel like I need one thing that I’m working on to go right and get done. It’s not going well. The blog code is stumping me. Every success at work is being impeded by someone or some thing. I just want one project done and fixed. Squared away. I just one want project to go right. Today the Disney board approved an offer to buy Pixar for about 7 billion dollars. This give Steve Jobs, the CEO of Pixar (and Apple) a 7% share of Disney. This makes him the largest individual stock holder. It also could mean some big changes in how entertainment is delivered. The creativity of Jobs and Disney CEO Iger could make a very interesting story. The terms include giving Jobs an estimated 7% stake in Disney and letting Pixar’s top creative executive, John Lasseter, have a key role in advising Disney in creative matters. Click here to read this story. Seems one very outspoken, anti-gay pastor, has been caught soliciting an undercover, MALE, police officer for oral sex. I know it’s not true of every person who is Anti-Gay, but this is another in a long line of apparent in denial homosexuals who wish to preach hate and intolerability instead of dealing with their own issues. A very common saying applies… “People in glass houses should not throw stones.” Thanks to Vu for sumbitting this story. So my blog is misbehaving. I write code, it works on my local version (on Henrietta, my PowerBook), and when I upload it…nada. She no listen to me. I must bend this b*tch to my will. She will obey. Or not. Apparently it’s her choice. I picked the brain of the best programmer I know this side of, well the world… Ed. We took a look at some stuff and he helped me figure out that it’s NOT the database which was at once suspect to me… it seems to be in fact the files on the server. I’ve deduced that perhaps it’s even the whole Wordpress 2.0 install I did. I don’t know what the heck is going on so I’m going to put up a dummy page this evening and do some work on her. I noticed some bugs in my code too… like archive pages don’t have a NEXT or LAST link. I also am going to make some changes. Maybe even a third column to help unclutter the right column? I dunno… I’m still working on it. One thing that can be sure is that the NEWSBLOG is going away…sort of. If you never noticed, there was always a small news blog section where I posted stories daily, sometimes hourly that interested me. However that’s gotten lax and too much work so now I just do it when I really find something that I like. But… it’s taking up way to much space AND… people have comment that they can’t comment on it. So… news blog items will now be posted to the normal blog with a category of some kind. And the last story I posted was so good that it will be the first posting in this manner. Oh My Pod, my podcast is now home at macboyx.com. That’s right we have two things goin on here now, the being boring blog and the podcast, then go for it, have a look. If you’ve never read the blog, well same advice. Everyone enjoy! Now that I’ve moved the Oh My Pod Podcast over, I’m having some issues with the name of the blog. It’s linked from here to kingdom come and changing one thing, changes lots of others… I don’t know if I should keep the podcast named Oh My Pod! or if I should rename it being boring… Sigh. Decisions… For now.. it’s named BOTH Oh My Pod and being boring… You might have noticed that suddenly there are posts for Oh My Pod mixed in with my regular blog and you might be asking yourself what the heck IS oh my pod and why is it here? Well if you didn’t know… I don’t just blog, I have a podcast too. If you don’t know what a podcast is… well it’s pretty simple, it’s basically my own radio show. Aside from posting my thoughts a few times a week I chat with everyone on the podcast. You can listen to the podcast in several ways… 1. Subscribe via iTunes (click here) Ok, so you’ve got what a podcast is but why is it here? Well Oh My Pod did have it’s own site, but to be honest, it became just a bit too much to keep up with two sites. Having Oh My Pod here will allow me to do more with both the blog and the podcast.
