sunday evening… …after the show, shawn and i headed to our favorite place to eat in nyc, virgil’s bbq. ![]() virgil’s bbq/bar nyc virgil’s has a special place in our hearts. it’s where we had one of the most romantic nights of our relationship. and this evening was just as special. we had a fantastic meal of bbq. we started with “jay tee’s train wreck fries” (seasoned fries covered in cheddar and jack, bacon, ranch dressing and jalapeno pepper rings). for dinner, i had smoked ham and bbq brisket, shawn had the fried chicken. the food was so good and so filling we skipped dessert. ![]() fed and happy all in all it was a perfect weekend. i just want to take a moment to thank shawn for making it that way. i love you cutie.

sunday morning… …we woke early, too early for the total lack of sleep i had over the two nights prior but i was excited as hell to be going to see the color purple on broadway. we had a wonderful breakfast with steve and his hubby, cheesy eggs, bacon and lovely olive oil loaves. once again good conversation and good company. ![]() the broadway theater we headed into the city via path train and got to the theater about a half hour early. the was a huge crowd. huge. we found our seats which turned out to be excellent. first balcony second row, end seats! the show started with an amazing gospel number that really set the mood. the show was magnificent. the actors/actresses were fantastic. lachanze(celie) was very very good but, felicia p. fields (sophia) stole the show. she nailed sophia (my favorite character in both the book and the movie) and her voice is amazing. elisabeth withers-mendes (shug) who like felicia p. fields is a new comer to broadway did shug justice and her voice was bigger than life. i also liked brandon victor dixon (harpo). aside from being cute as a button, his voice was like butta! the story moved well and they made some great jumps across the story, leaving out some stuff from the movie, and putting in some stuff from the book. there were some hugely memorable songs from sophia’s hell no! to the duet between celie and shug what about love? and finally the title song the color purple. the soundtrack comes out in january 2006 and it’s high on my must have list. i would highly recommend getting tickets to this show asap. it officially opens this week (dec 1) and even if oprah’s name wasn’t on it, it’d still do phenomenally well. to be continued… this weekend was awesome. aside from buying a new car, we headed to nyc for some hanging out and the color purple on broadway. saturday we headed up to nyc around 4pm and got stuck in hella traffic. we finally reached steve’s in jersey city at about 7:45pm. we met steve’s hubby who was very handsome and nice. we had some lovely appetizers an d then headed out to the city to meet up (finally!) with mike p. who of course is my co-host of the pmp podcast and writes the most excellent blog, blather and bosh. the meeting was a long time coming and he’s every bit as sweet and handsome as i expected. we met up in chelsea and went to r.u.b. (righteous urban bbq) we had great grub, good company and awesome conversation. for desert we had fried oreos! they were delicious. after dinner we met up with steve and craig and went over to dick’s for bear night. dicks was interesting. it was kinda dead and the porn being shown was kinda objectionable (barebacking…ewww!). we did have fun listening to the juke box and chatting it up. i also got to see mike’s tattoo. mmmmm makes me want one! after dick’s we headed over to another bar called phoenix. it was way more crowded. it was fun until the air conditioner started to leak on my head. then i was ready to go. we headed over to dunkin donuts where steve and craig and mike p got some coffee, we grabbed a quick pic and then dropped mike off and headed back to steve’s were we promptly passed out tired and happy, dreaming our plans to see the color purple on sunday. to be continued… ![]() the gang from left to right… shawn, me, mike p (smile damn it!), and steve. thanks to craig for taking the pic!!!! me so happy. it is so pretty. i will drive her fast. i will drive her slow. i likey me new ride… ![]() my new 2006 volvo s60 2.5t Thanksgiving rocked at our house. As always the boyfriend threw down with a maginificent feast and all was calm and went well. I really enjoyed it. Today however was a day of errands and getting stuff done. Something big is brewing this weekend (details to come) and it’s the trip to NYC and The Color Purple on Broadway. Hot DAMN! I hope you all have a good weekend too. i’m beat. i mean really beat. and i know the boyfriend has to be more beat. this week has been busy as hell. monday was just busy around the house. last nite, he had to get his car serviced, it was 1030 before we knew it. today was a busy day, followed by 100 errands to be done before the boyfriend and his grandmother get here. it’s been crazy. usually i (not he) look forward to this… but this year i just feel a little more tired than usual. i need to find my way out of the doldrums and into some joy because not only do i need to gorge tomorrow, but i got a great weekend coming up. meet up with some friends in the city (nyc), the color purple and perhaps a new surprise. i think the real issue is i’m getting a cold. drat. happy thanksgiving everyone… until further notice… there will be no capitals on this blog. why? i dunno. you tell me. but damn it no more capitals. punctuation is always welcome. in fact i hear that the sentence case union 104 is on strike. it will be fun. please take a moment to look at this… it made me smile today. stan… not only are you cute, you rock! This weekend we went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The movie was pretty good. I enjoyed that it was dark and a bit more violent than the past movies. I also liked that they played up some of the romance. It did kind of suck that there was a lot left out, although I understand why, I still wish we could have seen a bit more. I was SHOCKED to see Daniel Radcliff strip down and drop into the prefect’s tub. It was more than amusing to watch Moaning Myrtle sidle up to him in the tub. However, the true star for me was the adorable Viktor Krum played by Stanislav Ianevski. Very dreamy, very woofy!
…always make me feel better. Today is no exception… It has arrived. ![]() The Panasonic Lumix FX-9 So far. I love it. I can’t wait to take more pics. Once I do, I’ll up load some to the gallery. |
