Goodbye Celestine…hello Ipolicious!

Well it’s official, I sold my 20 GB 3rd Gen iPod yesterday. And this morning I purchased a new 4th Gen 40GB iPod.

So far it’s amazing althought I am upset about something. When the iPod was announced on Monday, the website listed that the 40GB iPod came with a carrying case and a remote control but when I bought my iPod today, neither accessory was there. I went back to the website and sure enough they changed the page. I am not a happy iPodder.

Also one other little complaint, they changed the size of the iPod just the tiniest bit and now it’s too big for my inMotion with it’s 20GB iPod adapter and too small without it… I hope Altec Lansing comes out an adapter.

Vu’s Visit

I just had one of the best weekends of my life. My best friend Vu came to visit me and my boyfriend for the first time. We had a fantastic time. Everyone laughed so much and ate even more! We scared the hell out of Vu with Mommie Dearest and he got to meet some people from my life. One of the most amazing things was how much Willow took to him. They bonded and she actually, just like her daddy seems to miss him. Breakfast at the Shady Maple was sooo good and dinner at Buca di Beppo was even better!

I just want to thank him for such a great weekend and for being such an awesome friend. I also want to thanks Shawn for being such a great boyfriend.

Gay Marriage Ban defeated

Good news today as the Senate failed to get the 60 votes it needed for a simple majority in a procedural hearing to ban gay marriage by ammending the constitution. Read the article here.

Sigh.

I am unsure how it’s possible for me to feel bummed out and even lonely when I have so much around me but I really do today. I am just feeling so blah and eh…as Blanche would say Mauve.

I sometimes feel so lost in my life, I feel so wasteful like I don’t do anything or accomplish anything. I have lots of “friends” and a few “Best Friends” but I just feel like I don’t have anyone close by to just go grab some coffee and kvetch. My best friend doesn’t live near me, my former best friend and I are still on very strained terms (at least that’s how i feel) and all the nice guys i seem to meet don’t live near me either. My friends who are close aren’t real close and are usually so busy… I just wish I could have someone like my best friend Vu who lived around the corner.

Sigh.

Oh well….

Volvo Drive For Life

Wow…. That’s all I can really say. Shawn and I went to a Volvo Drive for LIfe event at Nazareth Speedway today, it was an Owner’s Experience for the Volvo XC90. Thanks to Mike for getting us in!

It was an amazing event where they let us kick the shit out of some XC90’s! There were slolom tests, an accident avoidance test, some braking tests and an auto cross. It was much fun.

On top of getting to hammer the f*ck out of the cars, I got to finally meet an online friend Chong. He came along to do the test as well and I got to ride with him in one of the cars so we got to talk and I got to know him a bit better. He is one of the sweetest guys I’ve met since I met my best buddy Vu. He was fun and polite and we even talked on the phone for a few hours after we left the event.

I just want to thank Mike for hooking us up with the event and Chong for making it extra fun and Shawn for being the most wonderful boyfriend in the world.

Vonage

This week we signed up for Vonage. Vonage is a Voice Over IP product that lets you use your Internet connection to make your phone calls. We are very unhappy with our local phone service. Living in the sticks as we do now (Ha Ha Ha) we can’t get Verizon or MCI we have some crappy D&E service where they charge us 35 bucks a month to call across the street. We don’t get toll or Long Distance for a reasonable price. So on top of the 35 bucks a month, we paid 30 dollars to Zerocents for unlimited toll and long distance. I must say that was a great deal however Vonage is UNLIMITED Local and Long Distance for 29.99. That certainly seems alot better than the 65 bucks we’ve been spending!

Signing up was easy as pie. And we got a new phone number. You get to choose where you phone number is any area code any exchange. The sign up fee was not to bad just a months bill. They sent the Adapter via UPS very quickly. It was very easy to hook up but we did have a problem. Vonage suggests installing your Telephone Adapter outside of your router so that it can use it’s QoS (Quality of Service) function. This function is supposed to make sure that the telephone adapter gets the bandwidth it needs to function properly. However, when we did this and I tried to use iChat AV to webcam, the Telephone Adapter blocked all the bandwidth coming thru the router. I moved the TA behind the router and opened the appropriate ports and everything seems to be working well. The only thing we’ve noticed is that if you use the phone and are on iChat AV doing a video chat at the same time there does not seem to be enough bandwidth to do both and the Video Chat suffers. But this seems to be a minor issue and I don’t expect this to be a problem.

We cancelled our phone service with D&E and are now flying solo on Vonage. So far so good!
